The Toyota Tundra full-size pickup has been largely unchanged since it went on sale in 2008. It has gotten some updates and refreshed, but for 2022 it will finally get a complete redesign. Toyota has announced that there is an all-new Tundra pickup coming for the 2022 model year with a teaser showing a very different and very aggressive-looking lighting signature. When is it coming? Toyota says simply “soon.”

Porsche announced it is developing a new model of the Cayenne crossover. This is a new variant meant to offer “exceptional on-road performance” and is based on the Cayenne Turbo Coupe but with a larger focus on dynamics over comfort and usability. Porsche didn’t name the model but said that it will get active roll stabilisation and a revamped front suspension with wider wheels and more camber along with tires specifically for this new variant. It will have a new aero package and titanium exhaust.

Toyota’s Corolla Cross was spotted last week testing in the US, leading to more rumours that the crossover will come here. The Corolla Cross has little to do with the Corolla sedan but is slightly larger than the C-HR with more traditional crossover styling than that model and fitting in between it and the RAV4. Already on sale in other global markets, the Corolla Cross offers optional AWD, a range of 1.8-litre engines, and even a hybrid variant.

Ford revealed a work-oriented version of the F-150 Lightning electric truck today. The truck trades some of the comfort and convenience features for a lower $58,000 MSRP. It still maintains the same power and range (through standard and extended-range battery options) as the already shown truck, but the fleet-only F-150 Lightning Pro will offer standard dual-chargers and will come with a host of fleet connectivity features.

Chevrolet is adding the Multi-Flex six-position tailgate to the Silverado HD models for 2022. The gate, which debuted on the GMC Sierra trucks in 2020, allows a host of different positions for use including a bed extender, step, and workbench. The new model will arrive this summer.

Mazda has announced that the Mazda6 sedan has been discontinued after the 2021 model year. The sedan’s falling sales lead to it being dropped in Canada as well as the US, with the number of sedans on sale shrinking as buyers move en masse to the crossover. While the CX-3 compact crossover was also dropped in the US, it will remain on sale in Canada, alongside the CX-30. Mazda said that it has new crossovers coming including the MX-30 EV and a new model that will be built in a new U.S. plant.

Stellantis has extended the shutdown of its Windsor, ON, minivan plant another week. Unifor Local 444, representing the hourly workers at that plant, confirmed the extension on its Facebook page this week. The plant has been down since March 29th, affected by the global semiconductor shortage. The plant is expected to run a partial shift the week of May 31, bringing at least some of its workers back to the plant and resuming some production of Pacifica and Grand Caravan.
